Murrysville
Community Park
At 305 acres, Murrysville Community Park is Murrysville's largest
park and designed to be a central meeting place for people by offering
a variety of active and passive recreational opportunities. Three
sports fields, 2 ballfields, a Miracle Field complex and a soft surface all-sports court are currently in use, as well as the two mile Valley Hiking Trail which was
completed by volunteers in 2008. The Valley Hiking Trail connects to the Westmoreland Conservancy's Walter Nature Reserve and Caywood Nature Reserve. A dog
park donated by Murrysville's Brooks family opened in 2010, with separate areas for large and small dogs.
The MCP Wetlands (built with PennDOT funding to replace wetlands lost during the widening of Route
22) are a delightful place to view the many birds and critters unique
to this type of area, and a pavilion provides a place for enviromental
classes and recreational activities. A crushed limestone path around the wetlands
is level and easy to walk. Pondwatcher.weebly.com is an excellent website about the wildlife at the MCP Wetlands, with photos, sound clips, videos, quizzes, chat, and a link to a live wetlands webcam. |

Near the entrance to the park, Murrysville has restored a Sears
Craftsman house that was the home of the Cline family, the previous
owners of the property. (The Sears house is occupied by a tenant and in use as a residence.)
